Christmas

How stressed out do you get at Christmas?
I love it, I really do, but I’m always in a rush and in the end… I’ve never got time to enjoy it. As far as presents go, it’s Jack that’s my main problem – living in New York, he’s got access to everything, and I always end up getting him the same stuff (shirts, pullovers, sweatshirts, even the odd scarf… when I start buying him socks and ties he’ll leave me). Any ideas for something really original? H E L P!
The other weight on my mind is Ellery, my cat. I often have to leave him at home when I go back to parents’ (my brother’s kids are allergic to cats, and I’ve got my sister-in-law on my back from October onwards: don’t bring the cat, have your clothes dry cleaned, make sure your hair’s washed properly….. I could strangle her!), so I reckon he deserves a present too. Something to play with? A good book? A film? I’m sure he’d appreciate it. But is it right to spend money on a cat? Another festive dilemma.
Of course, when it comes to clothes, there are lots of suggestions I could give you, but those of you who live in Milan will find plenty of other ideas on the Basement floor of our store on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, dedicated to design: there are some great gift options, even at accessible prices, such as recipe notebooks on a theme (dedicated to a single ingredient and the colour of it), Brazilian tote bags, cups with bird-shaped handles that can be stacked up (they’re gorgeous, I might just get a few myself), lovely tablemat sets. Come and take a look – I always pop in during my lunch hour. Who knows, I might even find something for Jack. Or Ellery.
I wonder what I’ll get from him for Christmas. Ellery, I mean. A triumphal nap under the Christmas tree, probably. Let’s just hope he doesn’t attack it like last year.
Ciao!
